About the position
The Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric), Faculty of Landscape and Society at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU) has a vacant, permanent and full-time Associate professor position in Global Development and Environmental Governance.The Department of International Environment and Development Studies (Noragric) is seeking an Associate Professor with a background in the Social Sciences and a specialization in Global Development and Environmental Governance. We are seeking candidates with interdisciplinary experience, including some experience working across the social and natural sciences. This position is meant to strengthen the department’s education and research in environmental governance at different levels.
The successful candidate will be teaching at the master and bachelor level, assume responsibility for educational programs, as well as supervising master students. In addition to educational obligations, the successful candidate will have the responsibility to develop and implement innovative research related to environmental governance at the intersection of social and natural processes.
The successful candidate is expected to be present at the Department on a daily basis.
Main tasks
- Initiate and perform high quality education and research
- Develop, teach and administer courses on several programs; lead programs at the Bachelor and Master levels
- Initiate, acquire and conduct research projects with external funding (e.g. the Norwegian Research Council, EU, ERC and/or ERA)
- Supervise Bachelor, Master, and PhD theses
- Participate in administrative duties
- Take part in collaboration within the department, faculty and university
- Develop or participate in national and international networks
