Description
The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is looking for volunteers based in Bangkok, Thailand to support peace and development worldwide. Volunteerism can transform the pace and nature of development and it benefits both society at large and the individual volunteer. Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of United Nations International Strategy for Disaster Reduction’s (UNISDR) Head of Asia-Pacific office, the UN Volunteer Disaster Risk Reduction Officer will support in the following activities:
Local and Urban Disaster Risk Reduction and Resilience
- Provide support to cities and local authorities in terms of Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR)strategy development and implementation;
- Undertake capacity-building activities on DRR strategy development, especially at the local level, in relevant countries in the region;
- Support the adaptation, translation and contextualization of UNISDR’s Making Cities Resilient scorecard tool and other resource material as required;
- Support regional advocacy and engagement on the Making Cities Resilient campaign;
- Engage with UNISDR’s partners on local action on implementing the Sendai Framework.
