The Land and Water Division (CBL) aims at enhancing the agricultural productivity and advancing the sustainable use of land and water resources through their improved tenure, management, development and conservation. For this reason, the division is looking for a Capacity Development Officer (SDG Monitoring) based in Rome, Italy. The Capacity Development Officer will support the “Integrated Monitoring initiative (GEMI) ”which was established as an interagency initiative composed of FAO, UNEP, UNESCO, UN-Habitat, UNICEF, WHO and WMO, operating under the UN-Water umbrella, to monitor several targets of “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all” (Sustainable Development Goal-SDG 6).
• Advanced university degree in communication, social sciences, political sciences, natural resources, environment or any field relevant to the mandate of FAO;
• Three years of relevant experience in capacity development, training and institutional development in water resources/ecosystem assessment and management as well as related agricultural and environmental activities;
• Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese, Russian.
