Consultancy Opportunity for Individuals or Firms - Last Mile Systems Design & Delivery Experts for Sub-Saharan Africa
The International Fertilizer Development Centre (IFDC) is a non-profit, public international soil fertility and agricultural development center. As a center of excellence with expertise in fertilizers, IFDC serves the needs of developing countries by helping them solve their food-deficit problems by focusing on the development of fertilizers and nutrient management practices to meet the special needs of their tropical and subtropical crops, soils, and climates.
IFDC seeks a range of technical experts (individuals or organizations/companies) for a variety of last-mile input delivery competencies. These competencies can be comprised of either advisory (consulting) or capacity building or delivery (ICT or other) solutions to provide technical assistance for scoping, technical design and implementation of last mile delivery activities. Assignments will consist of short-term or medium-term consultancies through a combination of in-country and remote presence (report writing and technical back-stopping).
The project focuses on cereal, legumes, and roots and tubers in its activity-interventions that suite wider agro-ecologies, and demand for such crops – seed products within the selected trade corridor (legume-maize cropping) countries. The crops of focus in this component primarily climate-smart driven i.e, early maturity, specialized genetics- e.g. drought tolerant (DT) and water efficient (WE), with resilience-focused, profit enabling, and suitable for range of farmers from vulnerable to commercial, women and men and smallholders to improve production, nutrition, and income and offer enhanced soil fertility, water management and livestock feed, using rotations, intercropping and cover crops.
