Description

The Livelihoods and Food Security (LFS) Project Manager will help implement LFS programmes in the South Region, under the country office’s LFS Core Competency. The LFS Project Manager will work under the direct supervision of the South Area Manager, and with close technical guidance from the LFS Specialist (based in Kabul).

Livelihoods programmes support NRC’s broader strategy to promote durable solutions to displacement –beyond short-term emergency assistance – and to prevent further displacement. These programmes seek to enable vulnerable displaced people (returnees from Iran or Pakistan, as well as people internally displaced by conflict, drought and other hazards) to find jobs or start their own businesses, so they can support their families.

The LFS Project Manager will be responsible for leading the implementation and reporting of all LFS projects in the South Region, focusing on Kandahar. This will include managing some LFS staff (1 Officer and 1 Technical Assistants) managing budgets, ensuring that project activities and M&E data collection are being implemented on schedule.
The Project Manager will be expected to spend at least 50% of his/ her time in the field, visiting project activities, talking to beneficiaries and external stakeholders (in particular private businesses).

He/ she will be responsible for leading the implementation of the livelihoods component of joint Shelter- Livelihoods project, which started implementation in Kandahar in 2019. Specifically, the LFS Project Manager will be responsible for helping female-headed households who already received shelter assistance (construction of new shelters or shelter upgrades) from NRC, to establish a source of livelihood (e.g. establish a small business, get hired as employees, establish home-based agriculture or livestock activities, etc.).
