Policy Manager – Sustainable Financial System and Capacity Building

As part of the strategy to increase expertise among policymakers and financial market regulators, CDP is looking for an experienced Policy Manager to join its Global Policy Team. This new role will take over the management of an exciting training programme on climate disclosure for stock exchanges, delivered with international partners, with the potential of driving its future expansion to encompass other pressing issues such as biodiversity and land use.
In addition, you will support the engagement with financial markets regulators and supervisors, with the goal of building a more sustainable financial system. This will include monitoring the latest developments in sustainable finance policy and regulation, producing written content such as policy briefs and blog posts, organising events, and taking part in calls with stakeholders such as finance ministries, central banks and the NGFS.
To be successful in this role, you will have experience analyzing policy and up-to-date knowledge of the latest developments in the TCFD recommendations, ESG disclosure and sustainable finance. You will also have a track record of planning and running training sessions, preferably aimed at policymakers or capital market actors.
CDP is a growing organization, and CDP wants you to bring your ideas on how CDP can ensure that policymakers and regulators have the necessary knowledge to develop evidence-based policies that serve people and planet.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing an international programme to deliver training to Stock Exchanges on TCFD and climate disclosure.
- Supporting CDP’s engagements with financial markets regulators and supervisors.
- Working with the Sr. Global Policy Manager to deliver on the Sustainable Financial System Strategic Approach.
- Alone or together with the Sr. Global Policy Manager – Sustainable Financial System, help manage CDP’s participation in sectoral initiatives such as GFANZ and the Investor Agenda.
- Keeping up to date with the latest developments on climate and environmental disclosure and supporting the updating process of the Global Policy Database on areas related to the Sustainable Financial System.
You will have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria:
- At least 3-years experience in a similar role;
- In-depth understanding of the TCFD recommendations and their purpose;
- Strong understanding of the practicalities of TCFD reporting within an organisation;
- Good understanding of the annual report as a reporting vehicle, its structure and its purpose;
- Knowledge of the links between climate/environmental and financial risks and impacts and related information;
- Strong public speaking skills and experience in training.
Desirable criteria (optional)
- Language skills – Fluent English. Spanish, Portuguese and Mandarin would be highly favorable
- Experience in working on cross-border projects and supporting international teams
- Knowledge of sustainable finance policy trends beyond disclosure (including, but not limited to: the effects of environmental degradation on financial stability; trends around carbon pricing);
