The World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) India is seeking a new Project Officer for its Ghost Gear Project in  Andhra Pradesh, India. The ghost gear project involves the research, monitoring and removal of ghost gear, or derelict fishing gear, in India’s offshore waters. 

The candidate will be part of the Marine Conservation Programme; conduct social and surveys on the spatial and temporal movements of Olive Ridley turtles off Andhra Pradesh’s coast as well as gather data on ‘ghost gear’ and marine turtle congregations through engagement with coastal communities.

The task of the project officer will be, among others:

  • Conduct social and surveys among coastal communities;
  • Initiate community-based monitoring programmes;
  • Organize and mobilize local communities towards the promotion of marine turtle conservation.
