The vacancy is for a Junior Professional Officer (JPO) at P2 level to support climate change education and youth empowerment.
Some of the responsibilities that the JPO will be required to fulfill include:
• Carry out basic research on matters related to youth, education, training, public awareness, public participation, public access to information, and international cooperation; this will include collecting, analyzing and presenting statistical data and other information gathered from diverse sources;
• Provide substantive support to the intergovernmental process on Action for Climate Empowerment, including review and analysis of emerging issues and trends in the implementation of the Doha work programme on Article 6 of the Convention;
• Contributes to the preparation of various written outputs, including: official reports, background documents, analytical notes, inputs to publications, presentations, case studies, web articles;
• Provide administrative and substantive support in organizing and convening Action for Climate Empowerment events, such as the annual in-session dialogue, workshops, trainings, webinars, side events, as well as activities during UN Climate Change Conferences. This will include proposing agenda topics, proposing participants, preparing background documents and presentations.
