Walk for Water - World Water Day
WASH Drivers Network is organizing the Lagos Walk for Water to mark the 2019 World Water Day.
The World Water Day, 22nd March, is about tackling the water crisis by addressing the reasons why so many people are being left behind.
Sustainable Development Goal 6 is crystal clear: water for all by 2030. By definition, this means leaving no one behind. But today, billions of people are still living without safe water – their households, schools, workplaces, farms and factories struggling to survive and thrive.
Marginalized groups – women, children, refugees, indigenous peoples, disabled people and many others – are often overlooked, and sometimes face discrimination, as they try to access and manage the safe water they need.
Water is in us, we need it, we drink it, we play and wash in it. Water makes life as we know it possible. Through this Walk for Water, we/you will be able to raise awareness on Water Sanitation and Hygiene issues.
The 3.6km (45mins) walk is scheduled to start 9am at Ikeja City Mall, Lagos, and end at the Lagos Water Corporation and Wastewater Management Office, Oba Akran Road, Ikeja.
