Description

While climate change won't be effectively tackled without action from the government, industry, and business, communities themselves can and are playing an important role in tackling climate change.

IPPR's forthcoming research on communities and climate action, which has been kindly supported by Local Trust, has identified a range of activities being undertaken by communities to tackle climate change. This activity is taking place across a range of areas from energy generation to preparing flood defenses and creating resilient communities. This research represents the first comprehensive attempt to understand community action and the wider social and economic benefits that communities gain through their efforts to tackle climate change. It shows that responding to climate change isn't just about community survival.
