Description

BBSRC is a new body which works in partnership with universities, research organisations, businesses, charities, and government to create the best possible environment for research and innovation to flourish. We aim to maximise the contribution of each of our component parts, working individually and collectively. We work with our many partners to benefit everyone through knowledge, talent and ideas.

The purpose of this initiative is to increase and accelerate the uptake and impact of BBSRC and/or NERC funded research into practical application, supporting interdisciplinary projects to address current food security development and environmental challenges related to food production in the listed LMICs, and to deliver tangible and demonstrable economic and/or welfare benefits to the partner(s). Projects must include users in or working in the listed LMICs as project partners, who should be fully engaged in the conception and design of the project at the earliest possible stage, to ensure success, uptake and impact from the proposed translation activities.

BBSRC and NERC have allocated a combined maximum of up to £3.4 million to this funding call, to fund high quality multidisciplinary research translation projects of up to 24 months in duration. It is anticipated that this call will support between 12 and 16 translation projects. This call will support the translation of existing research/tools/knowledge, and will not fund new research.
